What a Weekend, Part I

If the way Sunday ended, with all of us collapsing from exhaustion, you could tell we had a jam packed weekend. On Friday were out of the house by 8:15 and on our way to Washington, DC. Linda and Elizabeth had never been there so Superwife and I decided to take a short day trip to the Museum of Natural History, followed by a picnic lunch on the Mall. I had been prepping Linda and Elizabeth for a few days before letting them know that we’d see some dinosaur bones, some bugs, and some jewels. They were both scared at the thought of dinosaurs, but very excited about bugs and jewels. The ride there went off without a hitch, a little traffic coming in to DC, but that’s to be expected. On our walk from the parking garage to the museum Linda kept commenting “what a beautiful city. I like Washington.” The girls were a little scared by the fossils, a little bored by the jewels, and a little excited about the bug zoo. The picnic on the mall was great as the girls got to see the capital building and big white crayon (Washington Monument) from afar. We mistimed our departure by about an hour and wound up stuck in some pretty bad traffic all the way home, but Friday was still a great day and I cannot wait to do it again this summer.

Wedding Weekend

We are getting ready to drive up to Boston this weekend for Auntie Amy and Uncle Matt's wedding. Linda and Elizabeth are excited about the wedding, but A little nervous about their flower girl responsibilities. I know they will do very well. Elizabeth's eye-scrape has healed very nicely and is almost back to normal. Check back soon for lot's of photos of the girls in their flower girl dresses.

Holy Schnikes Have We Done Some Travelling

Like the Partridge Family and Von Trapp's before us we have been touring the country by car the last few weekends. Boston one weekend, Pittsburgh the next, and New Hampshire the weekend after that. The ride itself is never fun, but it's always fun to see new places. Over the past few weeks the girls got to help open presents at their Aunt's bridal shower, drive an amphibious vehicle on the Ohio River, swim in Lake Winnisquam, and cross a spot-lit stage in front of 100's of fans. We have a short pause and then it's back up to Boston for Amy and Matt's wedding.

Arizona

Happy belated birthday Nanny. Linda, Elizabeth, Superwife and I flew out to AZ last week to visit Nanny, Grandpa, Jenn, Matt, and Cee-Dub. The girls got along fantastically with their cousin. I owe a few posts to explain all fun we had but for now, click over to the Flickr account and have a look at the photos.

Drive

This past weekend we drove up to Boston so that Terry and I could attend Perry and Sean's wedding reception. They were married in Ireland a few weeks ago but had a very cool backyard reception at Sean's parents house in Yarmouth, MA. We left Philadelphia at about 8:30 Friday night when the girls were all ready for bed and drove back early Saturday morning (6:00am) before they woke up. Papa and Maemae took care of the babysitting duties while we drove to the Cape for the party. It may look close on the map, but Yarmouth is about 97 hours by car from Boston. Terry and I have not had a chance to spend that much time alone together in three years. Shortly after arriving at the reception I got a little nervous and made Terry call to check and see how the kiddies were doing while we were enjoying ourselves. Papa and Maemae had taken them to the zoo. Linda was having so much fun that she was to busy to talk to Terry. I guess I shouldn't worry so much. We spent more time in the car than we did visiting, but it was nice to see everyone.
