Back To School Night

Tomorrow night, E's birthday, is Linda's "Back To School" night. Superwife and I get to go to Linda's classroom, meet her teachers, and see what she's been working on for the past 1.5 weeks. I'm sorry we have to cut Elizabeth's b-day celebrations short, but they will be with their fried Mia while we are at school and they couldn't be happier.

First Day Of School

Today was a special day at The Jack Girls Headquarters, it was Linda's first day of school. After a very rough night with little rest for any of us, the girls woke up ready to go. Linda met me in the bathroom and asked “is it time to get ready for school?”  When we finally got there the festivities were in full swing- the teachers, Principal, and school chorus were assembled on the front step. There were balloons, a gold ribbon in front of the door, and a red carpet for the kids to walk down. The teachers sang a song for the children, cut the ribbon, and then little by little the parents said goodbye and let the kids walk in. If Linda was nervous, she didn’t show it- she walked right in without ever looking back. Elizabeth on the other hand couldn’t contain herself. Once Linda disappeared out of sight she started bawling “I want Linda, I want my sister…” Despite Superwife’s best efforts, she was in pretty bad shape for a while. Once all the kids were inside, the school chorus sang “Be Our Guest” for the parents and siblings still assembled outside. It seemed to cheer Elizabeth up a bit.

We took lots of pictures and a few movies. I’ll see if  I can post some when I get home tonight.

A Scholar And An Athelete

The last post was all about Linda's predatory goalscoring instincts on the soccer field. This one is about her stellar academic accomplishments. Our little Peapod got her reportcard last week and did exceptionally well. Click the image to see it full size.

Where are the posts?

Where are the posts? That's a great question. I suppose I have not been keeping up the site so well lately. Things have gotten very busy over the past few weeks. Linda and Elizabeth both changed schools. They used to be in two different locations, but starting on 2 March they both moved to a new spot. Everyday their teachers tell me what a good job they are doing and how easily they acclimated to their new environment.

There are some new-ish photos on the Flickr page to see. Terry took some class pictures of Linda and Elizabeth's last day at their old schools. There are also some pictures of them painting and playing with their friend Mya.

Grammie and Papa are making the trip down next weekend so we'll be sure to post some new photos then.

Snow Day!

Snow Day! Linda and Elizabeth's first day at their new school was snowed oout today.

Black Eye

Monday was Elizabeth's first day in her new class. I guess those Gummy Bears can be pretty rough because she came home with a pretty nasty scratch under her eye. She is pretty physical when she plays; Linda Terry and I have all been tackled and jumped on, so I'm sure she can handle herself. Those older kids better watch out.

Abiyoyo

Linda brings home lots of different things that she learns at school. She's been talking a lot about "Abiyoyo" lately. She sings it, she says the word randomly, calls Terry and I Abiyoyo, and generally works it into conversation whenever she can. Terry and figured it was a story or something that they read at school and started looking into buying her a copy since she likes it so much. Is it ever a story. I found an Abiyoyo website today and a video of Pete Seeger singing it on YouTube. (See Above, but beware- it's about 5 minutes long.)

Last night Linda was playing and started making Terry and I sheep pasta and cow pasta. A little strange but pasta is one of her favorite foods so I didn't think it was anything to out of the ordinary. Wouldn't you know that as I was reading the Abiyoyo story today there's a part where Abiyoyo walks through a sheep pasture and a cow pasture. She must think Abiyoyo walks through the twon eating sheep pasta and cow pasta. I love her and her near command of the English language.

What I did Today
